Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt

The most unusual scavenger hunt in Rochester’s history is back. Every summer, our volunteers hide whimsical cutouts - Bigfoot, Mrs. Bigfoot, Little Bigfoot, the Grey Alien, Moth Man, and friends - throughout downtown, all within safe walking distance of one another. It’s fun for the whole family.

How to participate

1. Locate a cutout anywhere downtown.
2. Complete the challenge listed on it.
3. Snap a photo or video of yourself completing it (submissions may be shared on social media).
4. Email your entry with your name, contact information, and your pick of downtown business in case you win a gift card.

Every completed challenge earns one free raffle entry. Do as many as you want - each challenge is its own entry. Prizes include $25 gift cards to downtown businesses, a “Warning: Bigfoot Area” sign, and other fun surprises.

New for 2026: some cutouts have sponsors, and those challenges carry their own special raffles - think gift cards and boxes of Pokémon boosters.

A brief history of Bigfoot downtown

• August 2022 - Bigfoot is spotted downtown and the scavenger hunt is born.
• July 2023 - The Bigfoot population grows; cutouts appear everywhere downtown.
• July 2024 - Entire Bigfoot families are spotted. The families love it here.
• July 2025 - Bigfoot’s college buddies arrive: Grey Aliens and Moth Man introduce Cryptid Challenges.
• 2026 - Challenge sponsors join the fun with bonus prizes.

The Challenge Sponsorship ($75 plus a prize valued $25–$50) puts your logo on a challenge plaque and features your business on social media all summer. Cutouts are placed in public locations and challenges never require purchases. Contact us to sponsor.
